A lot of the time when we decide that is the correct time to be a parent we experience a lot of challenges to get pregnant. It is important to know that you are not the only one having these challenges, there are many couples experiencing the same challenges. One of the most common reasons to have all these challenges is because our body is not prepared to get pregnant. It’ s important that mom is healthy and dad too, because dad has an important role too. We need to prepare our body with all the nutrients and vitamins that our body needs to get pregnant, but also to give to your baby during the pregnancy.
It’s common to use birth control pills these days. You can use the birth control pills for many reasons. The most common are preventing pregnancy, controlling your irregular cycle or women’s that have painful menstrual cycles. A lot of women’s do not know that when you use birth control pills that create a depletion in vitamins that have an important role in fertility. Some of these vitamins are calcium, magnesium, folate, vitamin B12, B2, E, C and more.
Vitamins have an important role in fertility to the female and the male. Calcium and magnesium affect the rhythmic contractions of the Fallopian tubes that help the sperm on their journey. Calcium can be found in green leafy vegetables and magnesium in nuts, seeds, dry beans, whole grain and more. Folate has an important role in the ovulation or production of eggs. Also is important during pregnancy for the development of your baby’s nervous system. Folate can be found in green leafy vegetables. Vitamin E improves the endometrial response in women’s and increase the cervical mucus. The cervical muscles make it easier for sperms to stay alive for a longer time. This can be found in pumpkin, peanut butter, almond, sunflowers seeds and red bell peppers. Vitamin B12 affects the implantation, the production of eggs in mom and the production of sperms in dad. This can be found in salmon, beef liver, eggs, chicken, tuna and haddock. Vitamin B2 plays a role in the performance of sperm and influences the production of reproductive hormones. This can be found in yogurt, eggs, salmon and chicken breast. Vitamin C regulates hormone levels, especially progesterone. Progesterone is important in the development of uterine lining and implantation. Vitamin C also increased the sperm count and sperm quality. We can find Vitamin C in citrus fruit, peppers, strawberries, black currants, brussels sprouts and potatoes.
Vitamin D does not have a direct correlation with the ovulation or the development of the embryo, but research has proved that this vitamin is deficient in women’s with PCOS, endometriosis and male infertility. We can find vitamin D from salmon, sardine, canned tuna, liver oil, egg yolk and mushrooms. Another way to get these vitamin is spending at least 20 minutes in the sun light daily. The best sun light to get these vitamin is in the morning or in the evening. After that you need to wait around one or two hours before getting shower. That way you are giving time to your body to absorb the oils in the skin.
On the other hand we need to mention that sugar affects the maturation of eggs as well. Insulin and the hormones that help with the maturation of eggs are chemically similar. When you have high insulin levels your body can confuse the hormones with the insulin affecting the maturation of eggs. Especially women’s with PCOS or endometriosis is recommended to have a low sugar diet.
You can find all these vitamins in your diet or you can take supplements. The use of prenatal vitamins is recommended before getting pregnant. We also recommended chiropractic care before and after pregnancy. Some of the benefits are promoting regular menstrual cycles, may help optimize uterine function, prepares the body for healthy implantation, ensures proper nerve supply to reproductive organs and prepares your pelvis for pregnancy.
